QIMR REGIONAL ROADSHOW
Community Skin Cancer seminars.
In 2008, Suncorp, in conjunction with the Queensland Institute of Medical Research, hosted six free community seminars on skin cancer prevention.
Hosted by representatives of QIMR, and with a QIMR scientist in attendance at each session, the aim of the seminars was to educate the community on the dangers of sun exposure, new treatment options for skin cancer and how to identify skin cancers. They also provided helpful tips on how to stay safe in the sun.
Through Suncorp's partnership with the Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovation at QUT, each seminar guest had the opportunity to have their photo taken with a UV digital camera. The UV digital camera, which takes both normal digital photos and digital UV photos can reveal the effects of the sun, by showing the cumulative sun damage to your skin.
