Gold Coast - North Kirra Volunteer Information Monday - Saturday
Uniform
You will be supplied with your uniform which you must wear on the volunteer day - a hat and long sleeved t-shirt. You will also be sent sunscreen and Suncorp brochures to use and hand out on the day. These will be sent to your internal post code (IPC). Please be aware that you are promoting sun safety and your clothing should reflect this. For example, wear long shorts/trousers.
We advise that you also:
- Take water with you
- Wear closed in, comfortable shoes
- Reapply yourself with sunscreen every hour
- Wear sunglasses to protect your eyes
On the day:
- You need to arrive at North Kirra at 9.45am
- Make sure you are wearing your Suncorp hat and t-shirt supplied to you
- Don't forget to take with you the sunscreen and brochures supplied to you
- Please see the map below of the area you are allowed to roam. You may not go onto the beach or surrounding parks, as Suncorp does not have permission to volunteer at these areas.
- 10am – start walking the areas around the surf club offering sunscreen to the public. Click here for a script of what to say.
- Make sure you don’t make a nuisance of yourself by asking the people more than once (or twice depending on how long they have been there) if they would like sunscreen. Situate yourself somewhere where you can see people arriving around the surf club.
- You will need to keep track of when you arrived and how many people you sprayed as you will be sent an online survey asking you to record all of this information. This is a very important measurement tool and we are relying on you to feed back this information!
- Ensure you take quick breaks under shade, if possible and drink plenty of water
- 3pm - finish your shift! You are now free to enjoy the rest of your day on the beach!
- If you have any problems on your volunteer day you can call Michael Kearney, Ph 0401 827 037
